Things I've Heard This Summer

Hi. Here are some tidbits I heard from our Knotty Knitters this summer.

1. The Auburn Rec Dept sent out their Fall class schedule last week. Non-Auburn residents, look for it online at www.auburnrec.com. (You can click on the site name listed to the left of this blog.) The site should be updated this week (8/31, the new Fall schedule is online). Class starts Sep 10, so remember to register.

2. Lake Tahoe Yarn Company in Truckee moved this weekend. They are in a new location (in the same town) which will give them more room.

3. Filati's decided not to sell their shop since it seems to be a bad time.

4. All patterns from Lion Brand are now free due to the bad economy customers are facing.

5. Dolls were delivered to Gold Country Fairgrounds last week. Fair starts Sep 10.

6. Added 8/31. Diana sent us bad news today saying that Noelle's house burned down in yesterday's fire. Fortunately, Noelle, her family, and pets are safe. We are all waiting to hear from Diana with a list of supplies needed, so we can help in any way we can. Our love and prayers go out to Noelle and family.

South Lake Tahoe Trip

Before I get started on the SLT trip, I would like to remind you that Diana will be taking our knitted dolls to Gold Country Fair this Tuesday, Aug 25. You can drop any dolls with Diana or at the fair by this date.

Now for our trip. Candi, Karen, Rosemary, Teri, and Irene had a great time in South Lake Tahoe on Sat, August 22. Below are pictures of our day.

Sitting around the house chatting away and eating lunch.

Shopping at The Wool Tree & trying on a hat that we all plan to make

Knitting at the lake & competing in a Treasure Hunt

Candi knitting in front of the restroom for a challenge; Rosemary in the background.

Mary Jane surprised us by coming to the house with her grandkids. Candi and Irene visited her in the evening at her timeshare.

Fair Info & Date Set for SLT Trip

Fair Info
Diana sent an email that our icons will be on display in the Armory Building during the Gold Country Fair in Auburn, which runs Thursday, Sep 10 through Sunday, Sep 13. We are in Home Arts - Needlework - Division 168 (Animals, Toys, Dolls, and Doll Clothes) Class 7 (Set of dolls, 2 or more).
Reminder, please have your dolls to Diana by Aug 25.

South Lake Tahoe, Aug 22
A few ladies are able to drive out to SLT this coming Saturday, Aug 22, to knit together. An email was sent out this week with the address and directions. Will post photos next Sunday.

Placer School for Adults (PSA) Catalog
The PSA catalog has already been mailed out. Only the beginning and intermediate knitting classes are offered. The Auburn Park & Rec mailing should be coming out about Sep 1 and listing the advanced kntting classes. Linda L will send us an email to let us know when the Fall catalog will be online.

Found this cute knitting book for only $1 at a thrift store on the coast. The toys are pretty big, larger than usual.

Bought these old, used knitting books in a bookstore in Arcata.

Gold Country Fair & South Lake Tahoe

Have you heard the news? The icons have been accepted into the Gold Country Fair in Auburn. Diana needs to deliver them on TUESDAY, AUGUST 25 BETWEEN 2-7 pm. If you have your doll, please get it to her before August 25 or deliver it to the Gold Country Fairgrounds on the 25th between 2-7 pm. If you have made another doll since the Art Walk, please let Karen Muir know so she can make a nametag for your doll.
Contact Diana with any questions.

Another Knit 2gether
You are welcome to my place in South Lake Tahoe on either August 22 or 29 from 11 am to 4 pm. We can knit by the lake to get away from the heat. There are still a couple of ladies on vacation that cannot reply until they come back home. I will let you know the date as soon as I can.

Saw this cute knitted sign that spells OPEN in a shop on the coast.

Happy Summer Days.

Yarn AND Beauty Shop

Finally made it to the Fortuna yarn shop in CA. We usually camp 30 miles away, but I never visited the shop. I didn't realize that it is a beauty shop too. The salon is in the center back of the store.

This yarn shop is the cleanest and most clutterfree place I have ever seen for having so much yarn. The man who works here is really nice too. They also sell a lot of Barbie dolls and African baskets.
