Here is Sandy's caterpillar rug from last week.

Also, she ripped apart a flannel sheet to make this rug.

And, she knitted these two cute horses.

Rosemary knitted this darling baby sweater.

She also sewed six hats from Louise's pattern.

Linda made one hat.

Lynette is almost done with this cute marching band doll for a friend.

Have an enjoyable summer. You will be missed.  And, happy knitting!

Pop Knit III Wk 8

We had a small and cozy class this week. Our prayers and thoughts were with Linda who was not there. Her mother passed away during the week, and her flight back to Sacramento was delayed. It was good to know that she made it to Missouri in time to say good-by to her mother. Please continue to keep her in your prayers.

Next Week
Here are a few reminders regarding next class on May 31. It will be our last class before summer. We will have a potluck of appetizers and desserts as a warm send-off for Jake, our beloved custodian, who is moving to LA. Money for a gas card is being collected for him.

Bon Voyage Party, June 27, 6 - 8:30 p.m.
We'll be able to meet again before Fall. Linda is having a send-off party for the rugs, and all the rugs will be on display at one time for us to see. If you want to come early, Linda will be in our classroom from 5 p.m. Bring your knitting and snacks to share if you like.

Show and Tell
Sandy knitted a beautiful, oval rug for herself. We named it the caterpillar rug. I will get a photo up as soon as I figure out how to use my husband's camera -- perhaps this evening.

Have a good week.

Pop Knit III Wk 7

There are only two more classes to go. Linda said that we were a lively bunch this week. We went over three handouts: one on how to make our own paper pattern for a perfect fit and two patterns on holes with borders.

Jinny's samples.

Last week, it was requested that Linda include children's patterns in the Fall class, so Rosemary brought several children's knit patterns to select from.

Linda shows us a sweater she made for the Fall class.

NOT Next Week, Surprise Party for Jake (May 20 update: this is on May 30.)
Bring fingerfoods or desserts to the class on May 30. We are giving Jake a surprise going away party. Linda is collecting $1 each from us to give Jake a gas card for his trip to southern California.

Bon Voyage Party, June 27, 6 - 8:30 p.m.
A send-off party for the rugs. You can see all the rugs at one time. This date was officially approved. Linda will be in our classroom at ARD from 5 p.m. Bring your knitting and snacks to share if you like.

Show and Tell
Sandy finished her second rug, and Linda L. had two T-shirt rugs to show us.

Louise sewed these cute summer hats. She brought the pattern to share.

Toni is almost done with Construction No. 2 using the designs we learned in class.

Hope you are inspired to knit, knit, knit!

Pop Knit III Wk 6

We looked over Construction No. 2 and a plaid pattern called Apron Designs from the Pop knit book. We went over the handouts: all the constructions of #2 are in garter stitch. The measurements given to us are the following: A is 7 1/2" wide x 33 1/2" L, B is 10" wide x 26 1/2" L, C is 10" wide x 26 1/2" L, D is 17 1/2" wide x 26 1/2" L, E is 20" wide x 9 1/2" L (make two). The Apron Designs are the four in the top right hand corner (2 rows).

Thank You
A big thank you for the potluck last week. Linda says that her husband, Mark, feels like part of the group. He has not knitted since he learned, and he will not do anymore in the future.

Yarn Market News
An article about the knitted presidents was featured in Yarn Market News last August. Linda just received a copy in the mail that was shared in class. The website for this free newsletter is www.yarnmarketnews.com/subscribe. However, we discovered that it is for designers.

Blues for Louise
Eight yards of blue yarn is needed for the rug Louise is making. She would like some more of the fuzzy or fun fur type yarn of any shade of blue yarn.

Bon Voyage Party
Mark June 27 on your calendar. That's the date set for the rug viewing party before they are shipped off to the publisher. It is a Thursday evening from 6 to 8:30 pm. You can come earlier if you like since Linda is there from 5 pm. Bring your knitting and some snacks to share.

Art Fibers Trip Postponed
Linda cannot fit this trip into her schedule this year. She can arrange for us to go without her, but it was expressed that we would prefer to go only if she goes.

Linda L. asked if we would like to meet in South Lake Tahoe for a weekend trip this summer. Her daughter has a four-bedroom house, and Irene's little place is just around the corner.

Linda P. mentioned that we put our UFO's (unfinished projects) in a bag that we grap and finish off for the summer. A few said that they are not interested in working on someone else's stuff.

Jake's Party
We decided to have a potluck for Jake's last day. It will be an h'oerderves and dessert potluck on May 30. As a gift, Linda suggested we will pitch in $1 each for a gas card. Karen M. will make the card.

Fall Class
Linda has been picking out patterns for everyone's interest for the Fall Class. The theme is the 4 S's: Sweaters, Shells, Shrugs, and Skirts, plus two books on Cast Ons and Bind Offs.

Show and Tell
There were three beautiful rugs this week.

Happy knitting!

Pop Knit III Wk 5

We had a birthday celebration for Linda's husband, Mark, which included a good potluck, knitting a crepe paper crown, and a really funny card by Karen M.
Mark wears a fun hat every year on his birthday.

Mark learns how to knit!
Not only was it Mark's birthday, Teri and Sandy's son, Mark, share the same birthday. Happy Birthday to all of you! By the way, Teri will be on her way to her nephew's wedding in England and thereabouts this weekend.

Gloria, Diane, and Debi came by to sign the presidential coloring book that Linda wrote. It was so nice to see them. They look great.

This week Linda L. sent us the updated phone list for this session by email and brought some copies to class.

Bittersweet News
Sad for us that Jake, our beloved custodian, is moving on. He plans to live in Southern California and see what happens. He says that he will follow the blog and come back for our potlucks.

Show and Tell
I forgot to mention last week that Toni and Linda P. finished their rugs for Linda's book.

Lynette models another pretty sweater that Toni knitted.

Rosemary made this cute dress.
Happy knitting!
