The OR Coast and Yarn

Driving along the coast yesterday, I was surprised to see the following signs while passing through Florence, OR. These signs are posted right on US 101. Unfortunately the shop, which sells both honey and yarn, was already closed by the time we arrived.

Have a great week!

A Little Miracle

Last week I was going to share how to make the stitch markers that we made in Kingvale to a few knitters, but I went out of town instead. So, no pictures this week.

Got my Knitpicks catalog this month and have been through it a few times already. I also looked up their community website which is mentioned in their catalog. It's pretty good. http://community.knitpicks.com/

Our street sign has been stolen twice this month. In the 19 years we have lived here it has never been taken. I don't know what's going on; no one else seems to be missing theirs. I wrote a nice letter to the thief asking to return one of them and posted it on the pole on Saturday; the letter was gone the next day. Since the name of our street is Miracle Ln, I prayed for a miracle. I didn't ask for the sign to be returned since there are more important things to pray about, but I prayed for the person(s) to have a change of heart and be blessed. Will see what happens. I'm almost tempted to knit one.

Well, I went to check the pole this morning (Monday). One of the signs (the old one) was back! It was not on the ground as I expected but in its place on top where it belongs. My husband said it was amazing. I say, "I believe in miracles." I'm off to post a thank you note on the pole now.

It's back!

Happy knitting!

Fun and Fast Summer Projects

How's your summer knitting coming along? Anymore icons finished? Please send me a photo if you have finished a new one. My neighbor wanted to know if anyone knitted one of Michael Jackson.

I showed some of the girls at the Georgetown library how to make the knitted bracelet that we learned at Teri's knit 2gether. The ages of the knitters were 10, 11, 17, and one adult. Here's one of the photos.

This week we plan on making the stitch markers with paper clips and beads that some of us made in Kingvale.

A Knit Picks gift certificate was sent to Teri in appreciation for all she did in making the gathering so great. Teri responded with a thank you email, and I agree that all of the Knotty Knitters are so talented and fun to be around.

Knit on!

Latest Email Messages

The trip to Truckee and visiting Teri's place in Kingvale was so much fun that I still enjoy looking at the photos.

Here is a review of a few emails we received.

ARD Classes Confirmed
A couple of weeks ago Linda L sent us an email confirming the new classes. Linda has joined ARD (Auburn Rec Dept) to teach two advance knitting classes. The catalog comes out Sep 1, and those of us outside the city of Auburn can see it online. The website is to the left of this blog but the new catalog is not up yet. However, there are photos of the site and classroom. There will be three 12-week sessions for the school year with breaks at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. Our Thursday class will start on Sep 10 at 6 pm and end the first week of Dec. The same class is also going to be taught on Monday mornings with ARD at a different site closer to the DeWitt Center. The 12-week sessions are $65 for residents and $70 for nonresidents. A minimum of 24 students for each session is needed for Linda to keep these classes going so spread the news.

Linda will continue her beginning and intermediate knitting classes with Placer School for Adults.

Diana on Etsy
Diana sent us an email to announce that her shop, Knit Boutique, is on etsy.com. Please tell your friends, workers, and relatives about her shop. I have added it to this blog on the left side.

Gold Country Fair
Diana also sent us an email not too long ago that she will apply to enter our knitted icons into the Gold Country Fair in Auburn. The deadline is not until Aug so there is still time if you want to make one or another one.

Mini Me. I wore a kimono for Halloween when I was a young girl. This doll is smaller (9" with bun, 8.5" w/o bun) than our icons since I used smaller needles and baby yarn. I also made i-cords for arms and legs to finish faster, but they are not as strong as the tubes.

I heard from a few of you that you are not sure how to write a comment here. Just click on the little word "comments" down below on the right side. A comment window may pop up where you can do the following (also a security window may pop up, hit "yes"):
1) Type your comment in the box.
2) Type in the word verification as you see it.
3) Type in your email address/password or use the anonymous button. I think you have to have a Google account to put in your email address/password, but I don't think you need one to use the anonymous button.
4) Click on "Publish Your Comment."
