Summer Knit 2gether

We all agree. Teri rocks!

We had so much fun in Truckee and Kingvale. We knew Teri would host a great party, but we were still surprised and in awe with everything she planned for us. Some of the surprises were to make stitch markers and knitted bracelets, play knit pictionary and yarno bingo, and supply us with a huge basket of prizes. There was so much dessert; some of us could not try all of the desserts baked for us. The cabin is decorated so cute and, everywhere you look, there is something to see. For example, one curtain rod was an arrow and another a fishing rod; some of the curtains were vintage dishtowels; the door knob was a beautiful head of a dog. We all felt relaxed and happy. Thank you to Teri and her husband.

The owners of the yarn and gift shop were pleasantly surprised to find so many customers (us) come in. The yarn in stock were really nice, and there was a good supply of sock yarn. One unusual yarn was made out of banana fiber; can't wait to see what Louise makes out of it. Several of us liked the shell buttons she carried at a reasonable price.

Kingvale & More Art Walk Photos

Summer Knit 2gether
The summer knit gathering is next Saturday, June 27, at Teri's place in Kingvale. About 12 are meeting for breakfast or coffee. Then about 20 ladies are headed up to Truckee for shopping before making our way to Teri's. Remember to bring a lunch and to wear a knit-related shirt if you have one for a group photo. Final details will be emailed early next week to the ladies who signed up by this Saturday.

Happy Knitting!

Art Walk

It was so much fun to see everyone’s icon. There are so much details and facial expressions to look at. All of them are fabulous and done very well.

The knitted icons were entertaining and well received by the viewers at the Art Walk. The class room at Cabin Fever was very nice and the display was great. Colleen made a creative sign using yarn and needles to draw people in. Diana made the best tasting cookies for refreshments, and Cabin Fever furnished Sparkling Cider for the occasion. It was nice to see Knotty Knitters and some of their supportive husbands. A few of the viewers remembered our knitted bra display from last year and wondered where we get these fantastic ideas. Thanks to Linda!

If you haven’t made an icon, it is quite a challenge and a creative experience. It is not too late to make one for the state fair.

Kingvale
Our next adventure is the Summer Knit 2gether at Teri’s summer home on June 27. Did you all get the flyer via email? There are 18 ladies signed up so far. We will meet for breakfast about 7:45 at either the airport or Sweet Peas in Auburn depending on the size of the group and the restaurant accommodations for groups. Linda will make reservations so please let me know if you plan to come to breakfast. Then, we will carpool to Truckee at 9 am taking I-80 (since it is right by the restaurant) to shop for yarn and beads before heading for Teri’s. Some of the ladies who are skipping breakfast will meet us in either Truckee or at the carpool site (probably a parking lot or shopping area near the restaurant). If you want to go but haven’t rsvp’d, contact Irene at ibergh@sbcglobal.net.

Park & Rec Sessions
Linda L. will be sending us an email soon regarding a decision we must make. ARD is preparing for the Fall catalogs, and Linda needs to know as soon as possible whether we want two 12-week sessions or three 12-week sessions for the year. The dates of the three sessions would be something like 9/10-12/3; 12/10-17, 1/7-3/11; and mid March through mid June. The dates of the two sessions would be something like 9/10-12/3 and maybe February through beginning of May (I’m guessing). The 12 week sessions are $65 for residents and $70 for nonresidents which comes to only $5 + change for each class. Also there will be a Monday morning advanced class with the same projects at the Regional Park center with ARD. The ARD catalogs come out September 1. The beginner and intermediate classes (hat, socks, purse) will be held with Placer School for Adults.

Until we meet again, knit and be happy!

Art Walk this Week

Mary & Baby Jesus

The Art Walk is this Thursday, June 11. Please remember you need to have your doll to Diana (fourwesties@yahoo.com) either BEFORE Thursday June 11 OR you may bring it directly to our venue at Cabin Fever Quilt Shop at 5 pm ON Thursday, June 11. Please do not plan to drop it off at Cabin Fever earlier that day and make the store owner responsible for it. If you cannot be there at 5 or 5:15, please call Diana to make arrangements for you to bring it to her home(near Mt. Vernon and Palm) or to her office (near Bell and 49).

Did you see the Auburn Journal article with Linda? An email was sent to us by Linda L. with the details. If you missed it, you can search for the Auburn Journal at www.auburnjournal.com/. Click the "Living" tab and then select "arts & entertainment" to view the Art Walk article. (Sorry, I cannot enlarge photo.)

Diana also sent us an email confirming our name and title of the icon. Karen M. (kcheeto@juno.com) will be typing them up.

Also has anyone volunteered to make a sign? Don't be shy if you are good at it. Contact Diana if you can.

Kingvale Knit 2gether
Linda L emailed a fabulous flyer by Teri this past week with all the details. There are 14 ladies signed up so far; I will have the carpool sign up sheet at the Art Walk or you can email me if you are coming. There will be sign ups in 3 categories: ladies going straight to Teri's place, ladies going to Truckee for shopping first, and ladies going to breakfast, Truckee, then to Teri's. Thank you to all of you who have already responded whether you can come or not. It's still early for some of you to know your schedule.

Worldwide Knit in Public Day
I don't know too much about this, but I found it online at http://www.wwkipday.com/ or click on it on the left side column of this blog. This is going to be held next weekend, June 13-14, and I think on June 20-21 too. It might be a good excuse to go out with friends and knit somewhere.

Have a great week! Looking forward to seeing many of you at the Art Walk.

Regarding: P.S. Does anyone want a good dog?
Prayer was answered. A wonderful home was found for the sweet dog that I had posted here.
