Shell Wk 12

It was the last class of the Fall session. Linda's sister, Nola, was here to teach a wool applique class, and the ladies reveal their project for the Challenge.

First, Linda and Nola received good news. The publishers approved their idea of writing a new book on crochet rugs. Linda is looking for volunteers to help crochet the rugs. Please contact her if you would like to participate.

Second, the winter session begins on January 9. It is a shorter session of 8 weeks. The theme is Games and Toys. One of the projects is a backgammon game board that detaches from a purse.

Third, a big thank  you to Linda L. for taking the class notes and photos this week.

Shell Wk 10

I apologize for not updating the blog last week. I could not get into the blog because my computer did not have an updated driver. I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day. Here is the latest message from Linda regarding the classes in December.

"Dear Knotty Knitters,

Our Christmas party is this week. Don't forget to bring a wrapped gift for the exchange if you wish to participate, and your food for the potluck.  Does anyone have a table cloth to put on the food table?

December 12 is the last class, and I will have an ornament pattern and little Christmas tree pattern for anyone not taking Nola's class. I will pass them out the night of the Christmas party.

See you Thursday. Linda"

Shell Wk 7

Candi made these gory but yummy finger cookies for our Halloween snack and knit night. Debi and Candi came in costume, a pirate and a pot head.

We received some fun Halloween patterns for pumpkin pins, Spock ears, a face mask, candy corn, and a felted pumpkin bowl.

We were also presented new patterns for knitted skirts and two shells. Irene will be scanning and emailing it to you.

Sandy knitted this lace skirt as a sample for the class. It is one of the patterns.
Rug Book
We voted for a title of Linda and Nola's knitted rug book. The editor is ready to put a title on the book and for the cover to be designed.

Linda will take a little time each week to teach anyone interested in learning how to crochet to help crochet rugs for their next book. She recommends the following book sold at Auburn Needleworks. Bring a crochet size H hook and some nice smooth yarn.

Wool Applique Class
Nola will be visiting and teaching a class for $24 (includes kit). The pictures of the project are on this blog on Shell Wk 5. You will need to bring two needles, a tapestry and a chenille.

Next Session
Linda will start out the next session with toy patterns. Sweaters and Shrugs will be continued later in the Spring. For the state fair, she is thinking about entering some type of toys.

8th Annual Holiday Stockings for the Troops Contribution
Karen M. brought some flyers about an organization that sends goodies to the troops in Afghanistan for only $28. It is a great cause for the Christmas season.

Not So Good News
We were sorry to hear that Penny's sister passed away recently. She had been very ill for a while. A card was signed by all present.

Also we heard that Linda B. slipped in her home and broke a bone in her neck. We signed a card to be sent to her too.

Diane made these cute needle felted animals.

Diane also finished her gourd.

Jenny knitted this beautiful scarf with one skein of Mini Mochi yarn.

Debi made two. The one with the yarn called Camouflage has a draw string to be used as a yarn caddy.

Candi made this baby diaper soaker.

Sandy's cute penguin.

Applique Pictures
Nola will have a class on Dec. 12. Details and photos are in last week's blog. Also the bag challenge is due on the same day.

Stitches West
Linda has reserved a bus for SW on Feb. 22. She is hoping to keep the price as low as possible, but it may go up a couple of dollars from last year since diesel gas as gone up.

Next Session
Linda is thinking about continuing Shrugs and Skirts in the third session. During the next session, she would like to do toys such as the topsy turvy dolls or the nesting dolls. She brought some examples. She would like our toys to be entered in the state fair. Linda L. suggested that we knit animals of California for the state fair.

Linda bought this Topsy Turvy doll from a friend.
Monkey Survey
Louise thanked us for taking the survey that she sent by email regarding the future of the knitted presidents. She has received half of the results, which are anonymous. The results will be revealed at the Oct. 31 meeting and in this blog. If you would like to make a comment, there are two places on the survey to do so. Please contact Louise if you cannot find a place to make comments.

Penny made the football hat and a headband besides a gourd and a matching scarf.

Linda dyed this yarn with lichen today.
