Hearth & Home III Wk 3

This week we went over the knitted shag rug. Linda passed around shag samples that she knitted with plastic grocery bags and fabric. The handout is titled "Knitted Rugs."

This is how the 1 inch strips are put on the yarn before knitting.

Vickie and Sandy made their shag samples into dusters.

Next Week
We will continue going through some of the patterns. Linda will show us how to crochet a bullion for the yarn bombing chair. She will also go over knitting circles, half moon, and hexagon shapes for rugs. Bring scrap ww yarn and size 8 needles.

Presidents
Presidential Challenge is due in two weeks!

Franklin Roosevelt by Rosemary. Her husband helped her make the wheelchair out of wood and toy car wheels.

Dwight Eisenhower by Karen M.

Fall Session
We discussed starting the class on Sep. 6 with a one week break in the middle of the session. The last class will be held on the first Thursday in December.

Yarn Sale
Filati's is having a sale. Everything in the store, except for notions, are 20% off. I don't know if this is good for this coming week as well. I am sorry that I did not get the blog up in time for you to see this for the weekend.

Painting with Stitches
Linda is teaching a class on painting with stitches this Saturday (Apr 21). I am sorry that I did not get the blog up in time for you to see this for the weekend.

Sip n Knit, June 7
Sign ups and checks are being taken for this fun event. Details in the last two blogs.

Material Fee $5
Don't forget about this fee. The list is on the table.

Special Class on May 10
Linda will not be here on this date, but she has arranged a special guest for us. Louise will be the host for the night, and we will learn about spinning. The guest speaker, Lynette Hawkings?, will bring spindles for us to try. You can bring your own spindle or spinning wheel.

Sandy's White Star from last week's special project

Rosemary is embroidering on a tea cloth to make a pillow.

Rosemary made this little girl sweater and leg warmers.

Louise made this baby blanket for her grandchild.

Louise also knitted this vest using Marble chunky yarn.

Lynette knitted this little rabbit and also made a little girl's dress out of an adult thrift store find (sorry, picture not available).

Happy knitting!
