Hearth & Home III Wk 4

Sorry, I am late getting the class notes up this week. I went to my niece's graduation at Pepperdine University and helped load her stuff and clean out her dorm. A big thank you to Linda L for taking the cute pictures and the class notes for me. It seemed like a fun evening looking at the many presidents that were finished and talking about the tv show.

Class Notes
During class, Linda demonstrated how to make the crochet bullions for the yarn bomb chairs. She also went over the following rugs in our packets: circular rug, half moon rug, and the oval hearth rug. On the circular rug, she suggests using 3-4 strands of yarn to knit it. She pointed out that the half moon rug looks cute over the side of a bath tub. Linda also gave us a Tea Time cross stitch pattern.

This Coming Week, May 3
We will knit the cabled plastic bag keeper and the retro poodle bottle cover. I think the bag keeper pattern was passed out in class. For the plastic bag keeper, bring a size 6 and 8 nine-inch circular needle and a cable needle.

Presidents are due! Many were done this past week, and they are great.

George Washington by Linda L.

John F. Kennedy by Penny

Father and Son Bush by Teri

I'm sorry, I do not know who made this one or who the president is.

Bill Clinton by Karen W.

Gerald Ford by Candi

Good Day Sacramento, May 4
We will be on TV! I think this is for the presidential debut. Meet at Auburn Needleworks at the new location on Lincoln Way on Friday, May 4, at 8:15 a.m. It is right next door to a bike shop owned by Sandy's son. Besides your president, bring a project to knit while you are there. The show will be aired that same morning at 9:30.

Guest Speaker, May 10
Lysette Hopkins will be teaching us how to spin in Linda's absence. Louise will host the evening.

Sip n Knit, June 7
Sign up and turn in checks no later than mid May. The Powers Mansion Inn is located near the corner of Cleveland and Harrison. Details in previous blogs.

An Amazing Story
As you may know, Cynthia is knitting a beautiful lace shawl. She shared with the class that she ran out of yarn, and when she went to order more, she found out that it was discontinued. Somehow, she got information to contact a LYS in Great Britain, and they had her yarn in the same dye lot. Wow!

Judith models her scarf.

Vickie made this cute bag.

Lynette's felted star-nosed mole.

Claudia's hand dyed yarn using Iris from the yard, in both blue and yellow. Two photos shown.

Okay, who has time to knit a sweater and work on a president? Sandy!

Jennifer knitted two scarves.

Carol inherited an UFO and brought it to class to find out what to do next. The class agreed that it is meant to be a felted bag.

Enjoy your week.
