Gansey Wk 8

It was a very informative VKL (Vogue Knitting Live) night. Teri and Debi came back from VKL Chicago on Cloud 9. We sat in awe while we listened to them tell wonderful, interesting stories about how fantastic everything was: the outstanding classes, the nicest people, and the most gorgeous hotel (Palmer House Hilton). We spent half the evening soaking it up and looking at the goodies Debi brought back. Debi became buddies with Nicky Epstein and met Debra Macomber who she was mistaken for, both well known authors of many books. Nicky Epstein gave all of the knitters who made presidents a gift with a lot of love and kisses included. Some of Teri's photos are at the end of this blog.

It may be hard to tell from this photo, but we are mentioned on #6 of the VKL program guide. Every knitter who made a president is mentioned by name. Impressive!

Tea
Bring a cup!  We are going to have tea every week!  Linda is bringing her electric tea kettle, and several ladies donated tea.  If you would rather have coffee or cocoa, bring it and the hot water will be provided.

Good Day Sacramento
Linda would like as many ladies as possible to come to the Good Day Sacramento studio in West Sacramento for the airing of the knitted presidents and one candidate on Election Day. This will take place on this Tuesday, Nov. 6, from 8 to 10 a.m. Be at the studio at 7:30 a.m. Let Linda know if you are interested.

Stitches West
Also let her know if you are interested in the SW trip scheduled in February.

Rug Book Day and Skiff Party
Linda will try to reserve the ARD room for the afternoon and evening of Dec. 13 for us to work on the rugs and attend a Skiff Party.

Crazy Yarn
For one the rugs, Linda is making crazy yarn to use. Please bring 1 or 2 yds of any kind of color or weight of yarn for her to include in this skein.

Knitting Needle Knitting Bag
We went over the pattern converting it to working in the round. Use a crocheted provisional CO stitches (in multiple of 4) and place a stitch marker for the beginning of the round. For odd rows, skip the "k2" and do the opposite of the directions. For example, Row 1 would be: *(p1, k1, p1 ) in next stitch, k3tog* repeat to end. Row 3 would be: *k3tog, (p1, k1, p1) in next st* repeat to end. On even rows, purl (I hope "purl" is correct since we are knitting in the round; that is what I wrote down.) After 9 inches, you will be knitting straight (not in the round), so go back to the original pattern and do exactly as written. Use super glue to add the knitting needle handles.

Cake Covers
Linda mentioned that it was important to do the purl edge on the bottom of the cozies which she didn't notice in the pattern the first time she tried.
